About Elska Mumbai (India):

This Elska edition was made in Mumbai / Bombay, India's biggest city. It's also our first edition to be set in South Asia, spreading our Elska cucu even further around the world!

While it may sound clichéd, Mumbai really is a city of extremes - the intense heat, the relentless traffic, the huge crowds, the astounding poverty and wealth alongside it, and an inexplicably complicated social structure of class and caste all made this an exhausting issue to make. But it was also fascinating and a city we want to return to perhaps more than any other we've visited. And that's down to the people we met.

Inside the issue's 168 pages (our biggest issue yet), you'll be introduced to fourteen of the local Mumbaikers we met. They're all shot in various locations throughout the cities and in their homes, dressed in their own fashions or wearing nothing at all. And as usual, each boy wrote a story to accompany his photospread, letting you get to know them and their culture to a deeper level. And the Mumbai issue contains one of our favourite Elska stories yet, an unmissable letter from one boy to his grandmother.

Then, in our Elska Dehors series, you'll meet two more men from beyond Bombay. One was shot in the California desert by Mitch Cullen; the second was made in Paris by Alcibiade de Paros. Both editorials and the stories to go with them are especially revealing studies of the intimate relationship between photographer and subject. Both are absolutely brilliant, beautiful, and very Elska!
