Elska Print no. 790: "Just Friends"

Photographed by Liam Campbell, this portrait is of Ihor M and Valentin P, the 790th and 791st subjects photographed for Elska, part of our Elska Odesa (Ukraine) series.

I was only meant to photograph Ihor (the guy on the left), but he brought his friend Valentin to tag along. At first, he was just sort of helping out, but it soon became clear that Valentin fancied being a model as well. So that's what we did, and it went fantastically... But then when it came time to go indoors and do the nude portraits, I wondered if things would get awkward between these two absolutely 100% “just friends.” And well, it was kind of awkward for a while — I mean, there was a lot of giggling going on! But eventually they settled down, and here's the results.
