Photographed by Liam Campbell, this portrait is of Benjamin Quinn, the 896th subject photographed for Elska, part of our Elska Regina (Saskatchewan) series.

My trip to Saskatchewan led to multiple unexpected inspirations, including the Welsh language (after stumbling upon a historic Welsh community in these prairies). Upon looking at this photograph, I instantly thought of the phrase “hogyn aur” which means “golden boy.” This is both because of the golden light and because of Benjamin's blinding handsomeness.
