“Elska Press is an independent, queer publishing house dedicated to sharing intimate and diverse photography and storytelling from around the world. We focus on four flagship publications: Elska, NÆS, Ekstra and Kontakt. Each share our passion for travel, naked men, unfiltered honesty and embracing the beauty of imperfection.”
Elska
Our original ‘bookazine', published since 2015, Elska is all about exploring the world through a gay lens. Each issue is documentary of an individual city told through photography and stories of ordinary, local men. Referred to by The Advocate as 'probably the nicest, most sincere magazine to have ever been created' and described by the British Journal of Photography as 'part intellectual queer pin-up mag and part sexy anthropology journal', you won't find pages filled with celebrity gossip or lifestyle tips, just beautiful, diverse and honest content to be proud of.
Available in a collectible print bookazine or in a downloadable e-format, there's currently 55 issues to explore.
NÆS
NÆS (it's pronounced ‘nice’) is a gorgeous. queer, photography-led project all about abandoning themes, rules and storyboards and just following the whims of artistic inspiration. Inside each issue, you'll find lots of naked men, unfiltered and sometimes frankly weird texts, and imagery that celebrates truth and imperfection. If you’re already familiar Elska, then think of Elska as story-led and NÆS as photography-led.
Available in a collectible print zine or in a downloadable e-format, our debut issue is out now.
Ekstra
Ekstra is a series of downloadable companion publications — Elska Ekstra or NÆS Ekstra — where you can enjoy hundreds of pages of bonus content not found in the main issues of Elska or NÆS. Think rough outtakes, extra-rude-and-nude cuts, behind-the-scenes tales and assorted anecdotes, Ekstra is a way to get a little bit more, perhaps even too much more!
Each issue of Ekstra available individually or they are included automatically as part of a deluxe annual subscription.
Kontakt
Kontakt is an upcoming zine concept focused on celebrating analogue film photography. Each edition will be devoted to one roll of film, whereby every single image — the good ones and the bad ones — must be revealed, based on our conviction that sometimes a bad photo is actually a great photo. Included in every issue is a full contact sheet [‘kontakt karta’] revealing all the images from the roll in their fully unedited forms.
To be produced in a print-only format and in extremely limited quantities, Kontakt is meant to be rare and precious, just like a roll of film.
Art Prints
Also available are a selection of giclée art prints chosen from some of our favourite images from Elska and NÆS. Each is limited to ten copies only, available in two different sizes (A2 or A3) and printed on luxurious Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 g/m2 premium art paper, perfect for framing and showing off.
