(Kontakt is a new slow-read zine concept that celebrates the beauty and imperfection inherent in analogue film photography. Each issue is made in one city, by one artist, using one or two rolls of film. According to various polls, Rhyl was the ugliest town in Britain — so naturally, I had to have a look. Armed with a roll of Tri-X and a Candido 800, I spent an afternoon shooting... There was a shuttered fairground, a dying high street, a hundred seagulls, and one red dragon. Rhyl was as I’d expected... And then I found something beautiful.

Yn ôl llawer o bolau piniwn, y Rhyl ydy’r dref fwyaf hyll ym Mhrydain — felly, ro’n i isio gweld y dre efo fy llygaid fy hun. Gan gario rholyn Tri-X a rholyn Candido 800, ro’n i’n tynnu lluniau o ffair wedi cau, y stryd fawr sy’n pallu, cant o wylanod, ac un ddraig goch. A bod yn onest, roedd y Rhyl fel ro’n i’n dychmygu. Ac yna, mi wnes i ffeindio rhywbeth hardd.
