Elska Print no. 652: "Æðæði"

Photographed by Liam Campbell, this portrait is of Serhii M, the 652nd subject photographed for Elska, part of the second edition of our Elska Lviv (Ukraine) series.

Here Serhii is sat relaxing in a chair and has let a not-so-little something pop out of his undies. The title of this art print, ‘Æðæði’ isn't really a proper word, but it comes from a combination of the Icelandic words ‘æði’ meaning ‘frenzy’ and ‘æð’ meaning ‘blood vessel’ or ‘vein'.

I'll never forget how during this shoot, after first seeing ‘Little Serhii’, I couldn't help but remark at its impressive size, to which Serhii replied with a story of someone who once told him that he must lose all his faculties whenever he gets hard, due to the immense loss of blood from the brain required to engorge that D! This image gives props to the hard-working blood vessel that works like crazy to wake the beast.
