Elska Print no. 503: "Gruaig"
Photographed by Liam Campbell, this portrait is of Matt M, the 503rd subject photographed for Elska, part of our Elska Belfast (Northern Ireland) series.
The name ‘Gruaig’ means ‘hair’ in Irish. I realise that this blatant fetishisation of ginger hair might be controversial. I also know that a lot of people get pissed off at the notion that Ireland is full of gingers. But I also remember how cruelly ginger kids were bullied at school, so let's celebrate them!
